Donation Benefits Children in Franklin County

FARMINGTON— The Farmington Wal-Mart donated $450 from its monthly community fund to children who receive services from Tri-County Mental Health Services in Farmington, Rumford and Lewiston.  The funds will be used for the Children’s Case Management program, which helps children and families connect with needed community resources.  Last year, Tri-County served over 200 children in Franklin County, and more than 2,500 from its service area that stretches across Androscoggin, Oxford, Cumberland, and all the way to York County. Peter Zanoni, Community Relations representative for the Farmington Wal-Mart, facilitated the donation and said he enjoys helping community programs through the fund, though he wishes the $2,500 allocated each month stretched further.  Pictured are Katie Smith, Wal-Mart Sales Associate, and Stephanie LaBonte of Tri-County’s Development Office.

With State and Federal budget cuts increasingly threatening mental health services, agencies like Tri-County rely more and more on community support to fund services.  TCMHS serves over 8,000 individuals each year with innovative programs and services addressing mental health, trauma, substance abuse, mental metardation/developmental disabilities, autism, and more.  Its philosophy of building toward recovery and sensitivity to traumatic experiences of consumers gives hope to individuals, families, and communities in Androscoggin, Northern Cumberland, Franklin and Oxford counties. For referrals, call 1-888-34-HOPE (4673) or visit www.tcmhs.org for information.
