TCMHS Wellness Committee Hosts Kick-off Event at 1155 Lisbon St.

LEWISTON— Tri-County staff members practiced healthy work habits including stretching, stress management, and healthy eating at the Wellness Committee kick-off event Wednesday, October 10 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the training room at 1155 Lisbon St.

Eight student volunteers from Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions provided booths and offered guidance on health issues such as high blood pressure and stress in the workplace. The Nursing and Health Professions students included: Amy Baker, Angela Brann, Doug Chappelle, Aaron Gould, Ashley Hamilton, Rebecca Madden, Carolyn McElfresh, and Laurie Oliver. Local yoga instructor Terry Cockburn was available to teach employees different stretches and yoga moves to use at work. Licensed Massage Therapist Amanda Gould provided 8 lucky raffle winners with 10 minute massages.

TCMHS staff members were invited to flow in and out of the 1155 training room over the course of the 2-hour event. “Learning about yoga and desk stretching was useful since we sit at our desks all day,” said one massage winner, Cindy Patterson of the Administrative Office. Other staff attendees said that they appreciated being informed about blood pressure and other health concerns.

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and to the attending staff members for making the kick-off event a success. Wellness Committee Member Yvette Pouzol said, “The volunteers really made a big difference. They were awesome!”
