Psychiatrist Kristin N. Smith, M.D., and Nurse Practitioner Deborah Downs Hirst, APRN, BC, PMH-NP, are both based at Tri-County's Outpatient Clinic at 1155 Lisbon Street in Lewiston. ![]() Dr. Kristin Smith Dr. Smith is board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed internship and residency training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas as well as Fellowship training there and at Northwestern University in Chicago. Previously, she served as Attending Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, and Consulting Psychiatrist at Central Maine Medical Center. She has returned to the area after a brief absence, and says she was drawn to Tri-County because of the agency's excellent reputation. "I was familiar with the agency through my work in the hospitals and had great respect for its work and its people," she said. Dr. Smith will serve children and adolescents from the Lewiston location and in Bridgton one day each week. ![]() Deborah Downs Hirst Deborah Downs Hirst is a certified Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Nursing. She most recently worked at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick as a Staff Nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit, Partial Hospitalization Program, and as Performance Improvement Coordinator in the Addiction Resource Center. Hirst will help care for adults through the ProCare Program, an innovative new medication management clinic. Tri-County Mental Health Services is Maine's most comprehensive agency dealing with the psychological and social well-being of children, adults, and elders.
